Originally known for their Celtic sound, Cairde's repertoire now truly encompasses contemporary acoustic music, including contemporary songs from New Zealand and overseas, as well as traditional Irish songs. All five women sing and play instruments including guitar, piano, bass, mandolin, flute, whistle, 'cello and bodhrán drum. Collectively, Cairde produces beautiful harmonies and their original arrangements set their music apart and make it unique. Individually, each woman has a deep love of music and is a talented musician in her own right.
Founder of the group, Evey McAuliffe, whose Irish heritage has greatly influenced Cairde's music, sings traditional Irish songs with great passion. As well as being a multi-instrumentalist, Carol Rose is an experienced performer who is sure to impress with her musicality and highly distinctive voice. Sarah Lewis is a talented pianist, flautist and composer who is looking forward to sharing some of her music in this special concert. Kate Sherwood brings a clear classical feel that enriches Cairde's sound, using her 'cello as an elusive sixth voice in this quintet. As a solo performer, Anna Heinz has entertained many with her eclectic repertoire of quirky, witty, insightful, heart warming and occasionally serious songs! She is guaranteed to deliver more of the same on this special occasion.
Cairde ~ for the love of it! promises to be a rare opportunity to enjoy Cairde's music, both collectively and individually.
