Cairde is celebrated the release of their fourth album, Changing Tides, with a gala concert on Saturday 12 December 2009.
The title track, 'Changing Tides' by Martha Louise, is particularly dear to the hearts of three members who have chosen to make Aotearoa New Zealand their home. Other New Zealand songs are Neil Finn's 'Fall At Your Feet', Bic Runga's 'When I See You Smile' and local singer/songwriter Jo Taylor's 'Tale of Woe'.
The CD includes several contemporary and traditional Irish songs, one of which is delivered in exquisite a capella harmony, a hallmark of this group's music since its inception.
Cairde, which means 'friends' in Irish Gaelic, is certainly living up to its name as it celebrates twenty years of music making and friendship!
With three original members, Evey McAuliffe, Sarah Lewis and Anna Heinz who were later joined by Kate Sherwood and Carol Rose, the group has enjoyed developing its musical style and repertoire. Although all five women sing and play instruments including guitar, piano, bass, flute, cello and bodhran drum, it's their original arrangements that set Cairde's music apart and makes it so unique.

Originally known for their Celtic sound, their repertoire now encompasses contemporary acoustic music, including songs from New Zealand, as well as traditional Irish songs.
